The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. 8 Y; u9 E2 e% l

• Undertake research and analysis.4 v' l5 c6 y) I0 ]5 ]) ]
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.9 D6 B: e2 p! X7 o) l8 |& f
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.3 D; d$ }- p7 _8 D6 C5 s- R8 V8 |
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials. ; z3 m+ ~" X4 H8 Q • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.+ {0 e% I4 i( s& z* m5 T

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities: r, K2 W5 ` G
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English. 0 O- b: T8 y r1 o0 N6 Z3 h# |- v • Translation and interpretation skills.2 J- I: e) v, S) D5 F2 V4 A
• Relevant tertiary qualification 4 r6 ?' v4 x: M, C! e! k • Research and analytical skills. 7 t/ s+ l: Y2 H. { • Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 7 P1 Q1 U' P$ T( p • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. 8 V/ i5 ]9 k, E/ w
• Flexibility and adaptability.! D% l& b8 }; P! M% q8 {
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members., K5 \/ u6 @. t" \! i
