( v* a% S* T! o$ N4 W! F3 q3 pThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

Key tasks:8 ~9 s' \$ v% W2 _$ J# b
• Undertake research and analysis.
$ e% g; H# b" V • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
5 m" }9 D; g- e; L2 X2 n6 c& j • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.+ x+ F' }- P$ Z! a* C& c/ L
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.! n2 T. N; W8 p" f
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
1 h2 C6 c$ Q$ S3 o) X • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
; C/ M/ K, e: X% F • Translation and interpretation skills." D3 o$ @# ]! f& ]! V, [) O1 s
• Relevant tertiary qualification
/ t# W! d. l+ Y" f' n • Research and analytical skills.' j, g3 o) T$ e: s
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 3 S$ d+ B; g( N
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. ) E; [2 W* g @! Y
• Flexibility and adaptability.
% A0 ^% J9 o' N, c# O8 v# R' I • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.8 R& J7 k( ^5 U$ d, g# \
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
% }4 b9 |$ @2 O9 A • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
