`3 ?. j- m/ \" h/ `, BThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. 2 |3 @7 A) Z. L; r

• Undertake research and analysis.2 b& U% H! x/ x" ~
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.5 q* l+ z+ W8 M3 S
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.3 I1 B* [9 R. U
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.& ^! a' X# A9 _. p) B( J" G
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.4 q; Y; n) v* n7 B' v" r
• Translate official correspondence.! n' @! _# p' u4 m8 K2 T

0 f7 K7 }5 B4 L7 XThe Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
! m' |8 V. w+ ]; I • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
0 o- \/ [6 \ B9 J- O" {" l! W • Translation and interpretation skills.+ l' e; Z- t# h9 k5 y9 Z
• Relevant tertiary qualification( S! p* ` d- y2 `3 `2 x
• Research and analytical skills.' ~ A- s; u( g
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 3 \- I9 }$ j; F/ z ]% _; T! [9 {
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. % k' L; R4 t# L+ s- j
• Flexibility and adaptability.3 m, A" e, K* K5 N+ h
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
3 ^3 w; u/ l3 K2 f9 o0 X • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.# `4 q( _ B( W; w4 a5 g K5 @
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).8 C7 W1 F. d+ Y4 x
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.
