7 z% j" V+ V& c/ g4 D% SThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. 9 w4 c# s; |& j9 k! u

Key tasks:
: v( ~# F# ~' I& Q! ?) P8 O • Undertake research and analysis.: `8 @2 y8 w7 r/ O9 @& Q6 U
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
# N) L2 I& Y( @/ t# a • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
% b- g! ?$ G! b • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
! F6 D. y5 ?, ?* E • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.: P4 _. n# z: w8 Z9 m! C# Z
• Translation and interpretation skills.3 A* M$ c, y9 U7 u* O
• Relevant tertiary qualification
$ C, u: J) h( a4 `6 G. A6 l: O • Research and analytical skills.
5 o# A9 i& r* k, o • Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 2 t7 c7 @5 Q; l2 s1 q S
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. 9 r0 h3 ~* S7 b4 J$ r( z4 N E P
• Flexibility and adaptability./ P$ S( k% ]3 b6 t/ M$ o) x3 g2 A
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.. m6 H8 ?& `7 ^# s
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.( P; |- u! ?7 [6 N
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
