]1 ]0 ^' a# A( w8 hThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

$ K( V' c3 Y# k/ j • Undertake research and analysis.
. {. I! h* k* F • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
$ T& H6 X$ ] x1 b/ Q • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.$ _5 [7 Z, c9 `. y: D' p
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.4 ` [ X. p3 l4 H# g
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:. a4 F6 v" _% _# C: D) F
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
; ]: z3 A) f/ u; U. t. ` t U) R • Translation and interpretation skills.& ?9 ^/ ]! E3 j0 B: ?. }' C" U, Z
• Relevant tertiary qualification
# _/ l/ o4 _/ U% e% I2 N% m; V$ v • Research and analytical skills.5 P1 }% t6 P' Y+ T
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
% r+ F0 H9 n* r( w$ j • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
7 M! d, m/ H) t- \ • Flexibility and adaptability.
3 C3 ^) o& T0 O% X1 ?: } • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
8 {# K& u5 `7 P$ M f; w • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
0 I! X; s* b5 G) D& ] • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
