A very happy Lunar New Year to everybody who is celebrating today and welcome to the Year of the Tiger.
祝所有今天庆祝农历虎年的人们新年快乐。
I’m told that Tigers are a traditionally passionate, confident and able to handle anything that life throws at them, which will have certainly been helpful over the past couple of years.
我听说虎年出生的人都是充满激情、自信，能够处理生活抛给他们的任何事情的人，这在过去两年肯定会有所帮助。
But the arrival of the new moon this week heralds what is looking like a much more auspicious time for our country.
但本周新月的到来预示着对我们国家来说，这是一个更吉祥的时刻。
While some of the large-scale events were sadly cancelled because of Omicron, I’m absolutely delighted that, thanks to our efforts in fighting this virus, many thousands of people right across this country will once again be able to see in the New Year with family and friends. Just make sure you get your booster jab and do a COVID test before the celebrations begin.
虽然一些大型活动因奥密克戎而不幸被取消，但我仍然很高兴的是，由于我们抗击这种病毒的努力，全国各地成千上万的人们能在新年里再次与家人和朋友相见，只要你确保打了加强针，并在庆祝活动开始前进行新冠病毒检测。
The Year of the Tiger is a year in which I’m sure our brilliant Chinese community will continue to burn bright in the British firmament, helping to make our country the fantastic place that it is.
农历虎年，我相信我们杰出的华人社区将继续在英国闪耀光芒，将英国建设成一个伟大的国家。
And whether you’re part of that community or one of the hundreds of millions of others celebrating here in the UK or in countries right across Asia, I wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year.
不管你是华人社区的一员，还是在英国或亚洲各国庆祝农历新年的亿万人们之一，我都祝大家新年快乐、欣欣向荣。
