The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. ; ~1 Z8 e4 c5 m" o

Key tasks:
8 ]+ w; y Q+ ?! Z2 f# b' g • Undertake research and analysis.
- ~3 D6 C9 B( ^# k! a • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.! i+ F B- l* D" o
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.- a. V" Q) ?1 }6 r9 W1 \% J
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.0 J! p* o3 \& B' E
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

• Translation and interpretation skills.7 N* f/ M$ H- V( Y+ o# Z! T: l
• Relevant tertiary qualification
( o1 c; `" L+ A" k3 X" x% b • Research and analytical skills.4 m" x" c8 j. d! e5 W% O, c
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. ) [! K4 ]. q$ [) }0 F
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. ! @8 e" b! ]. X: t
• Flexibility and adaptability.
* k# I9 D& F4 Y' p9 {8 o • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.& q+ T6 m2 N( d
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems." T% }" l3 _' R( [
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).0 |! N- U; j# S$ [
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.$ p3 n9 z' M) V1 g
