- I/ U. ?! L5 A& f+ iThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

Key tasks:
. {/ m* o9 S, X# y. o • Undertake research and analysis.
+ b4 r! r. ~5 [" f • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.4 T( m8 Q* m2 u2 q! [! F
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions./ g( O' A m; J) e& |" K/ c
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.( s) v8 p1 }+ R. w! z
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.+ E$ z/ z+ _- s# [: `- U7 v+ F4 ^/ B
• Translate official correspondence.

• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
- }! Z# w; y: k • Translation and interpretation skills.% W3 Y1 C' O6 Y/ b% }4 i- Y/ B
• Relevant tertiary qualification
" r: D- {+ b9 w M6 _9 L7 W • Research and analytical skills.
+ `2 ~& [, Q/ b0 m! C • Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
/ ]4 V- G6 V8 K( s( t. y • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. ! M7 e5 U z; S! ], ~
• Flexibility and adaptability.
( |- ^8 W6 A, f5 E, l w8 n) s; K5 G • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.1 }; Y8 j7 ~# t* G9 B' L
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.+ k- i( m0 A5 {, y' @1 O
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
