! y4 W5 j+ B4 x4 SThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

1 z1 L6 J# V5 U; W# g9 p5 E* {+ m- N • Undertake research and analysis.
5 `# N6 k0 G" G$ o+ E/ C9 k# ~1 [ • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
1 l; s$ h/ x* U* b; y6 a3 l • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.$ |# T* _ c$ M1 [8 L% }
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.+ T. G Q4 |% W* `
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:% p, N- v, p9 g N
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
: B, K& M0 m8 a- ] • Translation and interpretation skills.
! G: R9 O0 p/ F. o3 d5 X% V • Relevant tertiary qualification6 q8 A% P7 W$ c( l
• Research and analytical skills.
\) v* O, s* F6 Q, Q • Well organised, able to manage a large workload. - S% e! E, R( A* \$ I
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
3 Q/ o, F0 u5 L9 J4 m. S. o • Flexibility and adaptability.: M7 q: h* t% J
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.+ A( ~) p4 }9 l2 H+ L
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
+ |7 W1 d% H) w5 l3 B& S • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
