4 U% d; d0 O: ^: V$ @' nThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. " S2 c* K. h8 ~8 m. z9 `# ^

5 Z( B% |; M( _ • Undertake research and analysis./ ]! }9 }8 Z8 w
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.9 ?! m4 B" y0 G7 n
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
( c4 c0 d7 t: v2 P: q4 R. I4 T • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.

9 x" s/ k& G: x, o4 f • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English./ u7 ~! l6 h7 _% y* [) a
• Translation and interpretation skills.
6 d7 v6 g/ D9 D • Relevant tertiary qualification2 M1 f: V5 O0 R$ A
• Research and analytical skills." u7 D+ v2 H4 o+ b6 g- W
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. ; `# e2 `$ [. y! Z' g" L' u, U
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. . l3 H& {! E2 q
• Flexibility and adaptability.
( C8 [8 W% Y4 o% q, j$ ` • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
9 M4 S- Z9 Z$ n3 {9 S • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.% E3 f( e' {! E1 B& T* U+ P
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).+ @3 A; W4 y+ z' d3 N
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.* {& S4 p( i, ~- ?- x
