The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. & `8 Y) h1 B9 f+ ]' |# A

• Undertake research and analysis.& b( ]6 P1 h$ K0 _. J
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.$ ]# c1 z/ l( o- @9 }* P
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions." b$ f& O+ f9 `9 y7 D" @/ {0 A
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.+ A3 t2 S' v9 Q, p0 W. s
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

" X( {7 O# |/ Y$ \# p% [) [2 f' I! G • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
9 q* x+ Z; u' M • Translation and interpretation skills.: X; a% X. C; I! W* l/ U. R$ C7 M& N. x
• Relevant tertiary qualification
+ H) {, h8 l0 Q/ V7 u- y • Research and analytical skills.

• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.

• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
