The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

• Undertake research and analysis.6 Q$ {: a6 h* i/ ?
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
+ K7 ?4 n. Y% S& Q5 Y/ B0 d! n9 J( {: C • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
: m4 ?6 g) ?" Q- `7 M3 \ • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.) `( q+ n$ H' r4 y' ~
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

• Translation and interpretation skills.% [/ Y; r6 r/ [$ L2 i5 u' ~) y
• Relevant tertiary qualification
' E' L5 X( ~5 }/ M4 L3 @ • Research and analytical skills.* U+ E5 H/ ]: B* ?! D ~3 z
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 3 m N! v( x6 C
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. ( B- C9 d, p. ^0 G5 p t
• Flexibility and adaptability.3 N N+ B- f4 i+ d
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.2 k" U* F$ j% X4 R' f: p! T
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
