The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. ' i- d" v5 V& z" x. B# }

• Undertake research and analysis.0 J1 y4 g s- u- U6 f4 _; [
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.4 N+ M5 `9 f/ p y
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
/ f9 l* M$ K. N, v. q0 n4 N • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
_* i! e- R9 U( F8 y0 i • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

• Translation and interpretation skills.: p* a7 u; R( p$ [8 [
• Relevant tertiary qualification1 |2 j3 q+ Z+ @+ g
• Research and analytical skills.3 k& I2 B% ` A4 `4 O w4 c
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 4 _+ R0 H7 P+ b/ i
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.

• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
m: c }% L5 d! u- J7 g9 E5 a/ d • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
+ \ l1 O, g% K+ d8 Y • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).$ X9 k* g: M! P/ O# K9 ~$ V# L$ E- B' [
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.
