The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

6 [) s) _) k* i- U9 |. Q • Undertake research and analysis.& r4 r+ H0 k$ r
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
" d/ z: x: M% }* @, ` • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions. y' w% n, h" \; z: T
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.3 m: ?4 h' B3 j' V
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

- g" Q9 J! T* b; ~4 F' I LThe Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:% V: O: U" z) w5 u# V6 E4 B
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.1 P7 Q, M- X! G7 `$ Z$ U
• Translation and interpretation skills.
) K: T" G5 q. \. N9 t% E+ W • Relevant tertiary qualification
' J5 T% {0 e0 J • Research and analytical skills.& S4 i" q. @; H6 `4 P! v, Y
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
" Y9 y, m5 L+ V1 G+ S; f" }0 { • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
" [7 ]8 j7 h+ o" G( j • Flexibility and adaptability.
- V. d& J" L' y- t- j! j0 F5 Z" h • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
# }; h/ ^! |# G • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
$ y. N4 B1 l- Y$ u# k- L • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
